The Vuelta raced past the coast of death to the end of the earth on Stage Four. The 186.4km (116.5km) road from Lain to Fisterra (from the Latin "finis terrae") was able to skirt Costa da Morte ("coast of death”) and despite the apocalyptic names, the racing was largely controlled.

Vuelta a España - Stage 3
Looking at a profile map, Stage Three of this year's Vuelta a España looks much like Stage Two. Both are largely flat with a hill at the end. But the climb to Mirador de Lobeira, which comes 181km after the peloton rolls out of Vigo, is only 4km (2.5mi) in length and a much gentler gradient.

The 68th Vuelta a España, the Tour of Spain, started off in the resort community of Sanxenxo in the province of Galicia. The town, on the northwest coast of Spain, prepared for this first stage, a 27km team time trial with a unique starting ramp.
