St. George Utah is generally known for its picturesque mountain peaks and crystal lakes. It’s these and much more that brought triathletes from around the world to participate in the 70.3 St. George U.S. Pro Championship.
The race conditions couldn’t have been better for the staked field of 35 professional female athletes. Meredith powered through the swim and was 1st out of the water of an extremely fast field filled with Olympic distance specialists, ITU studs, and Ironman and 70.3 champions.
Mounting her Slice Meredith went to battle on the tough, hilly bike course. Settling into a strong and steady pace knowing the race would be won on the run course Meredith commented “The bike was smooth, efficient, comfortable and calm. I was excited to finish 2nd off of the bike in that stellar field. This put me in a perfect position to challenge the lead cyclist on the run”
On the run Meredith chipped away at the leader who was tiring due to a huge effort on the bike. Fast & Furious Kessler posted the 3rd fastest female run split of the day with an incredible 1:22:49 half-marathon. Crossing the finish line as the inaugural US Pro Champion Meredith calls this the biggest win of her career in 4:17:11
