          Comments about QUICK SL 3:

Started biking a year ago for exercise and puchased a good department store comfort bike. Decided to upgrade and selected the Quick SL 3. Initial ride felt like I went from a Volkswagon to a Ferrari. After testing many bikes in the same class, I couldn't be happier with my selection. Awesome bike.

Be Sure to Ride Before You Buy

                Comments about QUICK SL 3:

                How I ride...
I use this bike for my daily 27 mile round-trip commute to work over moderately-traveled two lane roads.

Si Frame does not mean it has Si dropouts...
I was disappointed to find out after buying the Si Kickstand that it does not fit the Quick SL 3. At my workplace, I keep my bike in the office and I do not want to lean it against the walls. Cannondale's Eileen Kickstand is a not-so-elegant solution, so I will not consider it unless I cannot find one that fits the bike without being an eyesore.

                Grips feel a bit soft...
The grips feature an anatomical shape which should support the palm of the hand, but the "winged" portion is too soft to give proper support. A more substantial grip like the Ergon GP series would be an improvement.

Seatpost is too short or is the frame too small?
Unfortunately, my local shop did not have the Quick SL 3 in inventory and I ordered mine without having the chance to test ride the bike. Based on my height of 5'7" (170cm), the shop manager recommended a medium frame. The bike, before I picked it up, was used as a demonstrator for a customer who was interested in a Quick. What I would guess was an effort to make the bike fit him; the seatpost was extended beyond the minimum insertion line – a definite no-no. The problem I found is that if I inserted the seatpost any further into the frame, I felt cramped and experienced knee pain. I recommend test riding this bike before committing; they may run small and with the compact geometry, I imagine that a large frame would be a much better fit for my height.

                Finish flaws...
There is an area on the fork, right above the Quick decal, which is devoid of paint and the primer coat is visible. Also, the paint finish on the bottom bracket shell is very rough and looks comparable to a bad spray-can paint job.

                Upright position...
The upright position is comfortable, but may be a little too upright. I did use the bike once for a group recreational ride and found the position a limitation of how fast I could go; there is no real way to get into a lower, more aerodynamic position. Once again, this may be a case of getting the proper sized frame to begin with.

                Comfortable ride...
The carbon fork noticeably deadens road vibrations and leads to a comfortable ride on rougher pavement. The Quick SL 3 does feel quick and nimble and would be well-suited to commuting in an urban environment; a quality that is enhanced by the upright position.

                Overall...
The Quick SL 3 is a well-designed bike and is a pleasure to ride if you are not expecting the bike to be "Quick" like a traditional road bike. For commuting, errands and general recreation, the Quick SL 3 fits the bill with its ease of handling and its comfortable ride. The indigo blue finish with orange and black accents is an eye-catcher and stands out from the seen-too-often black, white and red colour schemes seen on many bikes. The component selection is quite adequate and performs well, but I would prefer a double crankset over the stock triple.
Finally, be advised this bike may run small compared to other bikes in this segment. I would not buy this bike without test riding to make sure that the size is right. Too small is almost as bad as too large. In this case, I'd prefer to err on the large side in favor of a less-cramped fit.

A fast, maneuverable and easy ride that makes it a joy to be on. I did upgrade the saddle, but is otherwise comfortable for rides up to 30 miles.

                              Comments about QUICK SL 3:

Coming from a Trek FX 7.3, I prefer the comfort that this bike's geometry provides. It is nimble, and a joy to ride on the paths up to 30 miles with no fatigue or pain. The only [minor] gripe I had with the bike is the seat- it is a little big and soft for my tastes, so I replaced it. This has become my go to bicycle most of this Spring. Consider this bike when shopping!
