    Houffalize - the Belgian Classic

CFR riders Marco Aurelio Fontana and Manuel Fumic took the challenge in Houffalize this past weekend, competing in the classic HC race. Known as a quick starter and with good memories in mind from last year's World Cup on the same course, Fumic had a quick start and came out of the first lap in the lead with a 20 second gap to 2nd place. Unlike to last year, he could not keep the speed and decided to wait for the chase group, which included teammate Fontana.

    Team Effort in Schaan

With a 4th, 5th and 6th place finish from Marco Aurelio Fontana, Manuel Fumic and Martin Gujan, CFR proved to be on schedule for the 2011 World Cup races, which start in 4 weeks in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa.

Manuel Fumic started the race with a high pace for two laps, but had a bit of trouble maintaining that speed afterwards. "I wanted to see how far I can go, and am kind of satisfied with how it went. I hoped to be able to hold the speed longer, but I know what to work on now in the remaining weeks," Fumic stated slightly disappointed after the race. "The crowd in Schaan was amazing and it was great to race under the sun after the last cold and wet races," he added

Cannondale Factory Racing's Manuel Fumic landed his first victory of the 2011 MTB season at the C1 race in Sirmione/Italy. Fumic and Teammate Fontana escaped early in the muddy and technical race and increased the gap to their competition quickly. Fumic crashed and had to change his seat at the tech zone, which gave him a 15 second disadvantage from Fontana. Both raced strong and never left any doubt about their mission for a 1 -2 finish.
