Cannondale Electric Mountain Bike Highlights
E-Mountain Bikes are “in” right now, and there’s a strong reason why. They are fun. Lots of fun. More motor power means more time focusing on technique, which is exactly where the Cannondale Electric mountain bike line shines. The Cannondale E-MTB line of bikes is built for technical terrain, especially that rock garden you haven’t been able to clean.
With an E-Mountain Bike (AKA “Fun Machine”) at your disposal, mountain biking becomes a lot more accessible as you can explore trails, features, and destinations previously too intimidating. These bikes will kick down the barriers you’ve created for yourself and prioritize the most important aspect of mountain biking: having fun.
Why Are These Bikes So Fun?
What makes the Cannondale Electric Mountain bike so fun? It comes down to three things: power, range, and the “X” factor. The bikes are equipped with a powerful mid-drive motor system by Bosch. The range on the battery is incredible, with Cannondale ranges going up to 75 miles, meaning you can tackle all of those full-day rides you’ve always dreamed of. Lastly, the “X” factor is truly what differentiates the Cannondale electric mountain bike from the pack. The “X” factor comprises all of the nuances of the bike, the suspension, the geometry, and how it flows and feels. The innovative proportional response system on Cannondale bikes is a huge proponent of this “X” factor, which we’ll discuss more later. Each electric bike is equipped with a simple yet incredibly powerful display, creating an experience where it’s easy to dial in your changes on the trail.
In summary, Cannondale electric mountain bikes are a great way to experience the thrill of mountain biking with the added convenience of electric power that is driven by one of the best motors on the planet, the Bosch Performance Line CX.
Bosch Motor
E-Mountain Bikes are changing the game of mountain biking. The most pivotal aspect of an E-mountain bike is, of course, the motor and battery system. Cannondale does not take this responsibility lightly, equipping their bikes with one of the hottest motors on the E-MTB market. Each Cannondale E-mountain bike is equipped with Bosch’s most powerful eMTB drive unit, the Performance Line CX. With a 750Wh battery and 85Nm of torque, this bike can deliver some serious power and performance on the trail. Combined with modern geometry, the Cannondale Electric Mountain Bike line rides smoothly, descends fast, and responds quickly.
The motor settings on each Cannondale E-Mountain bike can be fine-tuned and customized to a rider’s preferences and needs, so you can work as hard as you’d like. The power comes naturally, intuitively, and never feels overwhelming. The Bosch Performance Line CX mid-drive motor is a significant upgrade over other motors on the market, and the smart assist feature seals the deal.
Proportional Response System
Cannondale’s Proportional Response System, while simple in concept, makes a huge difference on the trail. The proportional response system is our philosophy of total size-specific design. Each frame size is designed and constructed individually in geometry, suspension, layout, and more. This makes for a bike that rides like it was built for you, and you can truly flow with it on the trails. This is a win-win for beginners and experts alike, allowing beginners to progress faster and for experts to push harder. The proportional response system really demonstrates Cannondale’s attention to detail with every bike that we make. These slight adjustments to the suspension and geometry really showcase themselves on the trail, as riders will be flowing with their bike instead of fighting against it.
Features
Cannondale's electric mountain bikes feature powerful mid-drive motors, long-travel suspension, and all-weather hydraulic disc brakes for confident, reliable performance. Dropper posts are in each of the electric mountain bikes, this means you can, on the fly, shift your stance to match the terrain needs. Going up a long climb? No problem, extend your dropper post and sit comfortably. Time to send it downhill? Drop your dropper post and free up your body to move with your bike without any obstacles. Each electric Cannondale mountain bike is also equipped with 29-inch tubeless read tires. So, if you so choose, you can quickly convert to tubeless and say goodbye to pinch flats. And the 29-inch wheels provide a lot of traction and speed that will carry you through the most difficult obstacles. Finally, Cannondale electric mountain bikes are equipped with powerful, all-weather hydraulic disc brakes. These brakes provide strong, consistent braking power in all conditions, so riders can stay in control no matter the weather. These bikes don’t skimp on features, just like how you won’t skimp on any trail days with an electric bike by your side.
Bikes for Each Rider Type
Cannondale’s line of electric mountain bikes is comprised of nine different bikes, each with its own strengths. Regardless of your preferred style of riding, we’ve got you covered.
For the rider who likes a little bit of everything and wants a bike that can handle the technical climbs and the steep descents, look no further than the Moterra Carbon 1 and the Moterra Carbon 2 trail E-Mountain bikes. Both of these are equipped with a balanced 150 mm of front travel and Rockshock debonair rear shocks. The geometry on these bikes is a perfect balance of aggressive, modern, and endurance geometry. With a carbon frame, the bike will still feel light, responsive, and quick on the trail. These trail electric mountain bikes are built for handling, efficiency, and durability. This means you can crush switchbacks, berms, tabletops, and technical ascents all in one package.
For those of you who live for the descents, the Moterra LT and Moterra LT 2 are for you. Both are equipped with 165mm or 170mm of travel with state-of-the-art Rockshock fork suspension, coil suspension in the rear, 29-inch wheels to roll over obstacles, and are designed with the aggressive rider in mind. Perfect for the riders who want to enjoy a now easy climb (thanks to the Bosch motor) before ripping it downhill. These electric mountain bikes are built for handling, traction, and speed. It’s time to get shreddy.
Our enduro line is a great middle-ground for those who want to shred downhill but intend to see your fair share of climbs to get there. For you, the Moterra Carbon 1 and the Moterra Carbon 2 enduro Electric Mountain bikes are the perfect fit. Both are equipped with 150 to 160mm of travel and ready to rip some gnarly downhills. Perfect for those who 95% want to shred but want to earn their turns, just with a little help.
Carbon vs. Aluminum
Each of the bikes in the Cannondale eMTB line can be found in both carbon and aluminum versions, except the LT. Both materials have their own advantages and disadvantages, and choosing between them is a personal decision. One advantage of the carbon frame is that it is lightweight and stiff. This makes it easier to accelerate and climb hills, and when paired with the bosch motor, crushes uphills. It also absorbs vibration better than aluminum, which makes for a smoother ride. However, carbon is more expensive than aluminum and can be more difficult to repair if it is damaged.
The aluminum frame offers more durability than carbon and is less expensive. The aluminum bikes sacrifice a bit of weight for the more budget-minded mountain biker but are still equipped with top-of-the-line specs and geometry, no different than their carbon counterparts. It’s generally a great pick for budget-oriented riders who don’t mind a little extra weight.
Ultimately, choosing between the carbon and aluminum frame options for Cannondale electric mountain bikes is a personal decision. Carbon is lighter and stiffer but more expensive, while aluminum is more durable and comfortable but heavier and less stiff. Consider the terrain and your riding style when making your decision.
Looks
Let’s face it, a bike that looks good is almost as important as a bike that performs well. Good thing that the Cannondale electric mountain bikes are as good-looking as they are performing. From the sleek frame and the hidden cables, there was a lot of intention put behind every detail of this bike, and it shows. Not to mention the wide range of colors available to match each rider’s vibe and color preferences. These are bikes that will be sure to turn heads at the trailhead.
Summary
In summary, you can’t go wrong with any electric mountain bike in the Cannondale line. Each is designed with mountain bikers in mind. And both the beginner and the seasoned expert will find themselves having hours of fun with the power, the range, and the “X” factor that these bikes deliver. The proportional response system will make your bike feel and flow naturally on the trails, as Bosch’s powerful mid-drive motor prepares you to tackle any train or uphill adventure, regardless of how technical. Finally, you can ride what you want to ride, have more fun, and see the trails you have always dreamed of. These fun machines are powerful tools to kick down barriers and do exactly what they are named after, have fun.
