SAVE technology is all about reducing road shock and vibration. By pairing precise tube shapes with sophisticated carbon layup or highly manipulated aluminum, we are able to create areas on the rear chainstays and seat stays, fork or seatpost that can deflect to absorb shock, while staying completely rigid laterally and torsionally. The enhanced vertical compliance provided by these combined features greatly improves comfort and performance.

Originally featured on the first Synapse Carbon (It started as an acronym for Synapse Active Vibration Elimination), SAVE Micro-Suspension Technology has evolved into the following four variations for different types of bikes and riding: SAVE PLUS, SPEED SAVE, AERO SAVE and SAVE.

SAVE PLUS

SMOOTHER, MORE COMPLIANT SAVE FEATURES FOR ROUGHER ROADS AND LONGER DAYS.
An updated version of the system that started it all, SAVE PLUS offers even more vertical compliance than SPEED SAVE. Perfect for carrying top speed over the cobbles of northern Europe or for smoothing out your next Gran Fondo. The SAVE PLUS system is a radical three-part system designed to handle anything the road can throw your way.

  1. CARBON LAYUP: FINE-TO-SMALL BUMPS
    The Synapse’s carbon layup was designed to maximize something called “inter-laminar shear dissapation”. Basically this means that the fibers are oriented in such a way that vibrations get caught up in the layers and are diffused before they can make it to rider. This helps tune out that energy-sapping road buzz and keeps you fresher.
  2. REAR TRIANGLE AND FORK: SMALL TO MEDIUM BUMPS
    Much like with SPEED SAVE, in SAVE PLUS the rear triangle and fork are designed to work together as a system, allowing the wheels to track the ground whether the rider is seated or standing. The seat stays feature a unique helixed shape, that both bends and compresses under load like a spring, while the fork has a curved shape and offset dropouts that enable it to offer balanced vertical compliance with excellent steering precision.
  3. SEAT POST AND SEAT TUBE: MEDIUM TO LARGE BUMPS
    The smaller diameter 25.4mm round seatpost offers more compliance than larger diameter posts, an effect which is amplified by the collarless, wedge style seat clamp design. Without a seat collar extending above the top tube, more of the seatpost is exposed and able to flex and absorb shock. The seatpost is complimented by a seat tube that, due to its carbon layup and scalloped, flattened design, is able to bow in concert with the seatpost, maximizing comfort when the rider is seated.

SPEED SAVE

SMOOTHER, MORE COMPLIANT SAVE FEATURES FOR ROUGHER ROADS AND LONGER DAYS.
Much like the suspension on F1 cars, SPEED SAVE features are engineered to help the bike roll faster, not simply to make it more comfortable. Emphasizing light weight and torsional rigidity, SPEED SAVE delivers improved rolling speed, better acceleration, and dramatically improved cornering speed without negatively affecting power transfer.

SPEED SAVE works primarily via the balance between rear triangle and the fork. On the rear triangle, both the chainstays and the seatstays are able to flex slightly vertically to absorb shock, while up front, the fork’s offset dropouts and lay-up allow it to have a matched amount of deflection. This creates a true micro-suspension system that allows the wheels to track over imperfect surfaces, whether the rider is seated or standing. This provides better traction and handling, higher speeds and faster cornering.

The second part of the system concentrates on rider comfort. The seat tube features a directionally optimized carbon layup which allows it to deflect slightly fore and aft, which diffuses vibration and impacts and reduces the energy-sapping muscle micro-trauma caused by long days in the saddle.

AERO SAVE

AERODYNAMIC SAVE FEATURES
AERO SAVE mates energy saving vertical compliance with slippery aerodynamic shapes. In a category overrun with harsh riding aero bikes, AERO SAVE offers a clear advantage: by absorbing the jarring vibrations of the road, AERO SAVE allows you to stay in the aero position longer, stay in better control over rough surfaces, and come off the bike fresher for the run.
