Comments about cannondale SCALPEL 29ER CARBON 1:
This is my third Cannondale's bike, I've replaced my RZ120 1 by a Scalpel 29er 1 2013 without having a look to other competitors !
I'm also riding a Synapse Hi-mod.
First ride : after 15min my crank unscrew I came back by foot and pushing the bike.
The day after, I start using for real the bike.
The ride was just outstanding, I'd enjoyed it so much but unfortunatly it was for a short time.
After that I had to face with a failure of the bb30 bearing, a damage due to a jump chain (The chain was blocked between the cog set and the bike) and a frame damage due to a bad cable installation under the bb30 box.
With the reseller we also noticed that the small piece which make the link between the front derailleur and the frame was too small and that the derailleur touch the crank when the derailleur goes to the higher position.
Cannondale's quality service has decided to replace the bike, it has been done fast.
So a month after I had a "new new" Scalpel 29er 1 supposed to be verified by Cannondale European technical center.
But, weeks after weeks I cumulate issues (bad assembly of rear suspension, bearing bb30, bearing rear wheel, hubs rear, break ...)
2 April, I broke a spoke. Till I can't ride anymore. It seems that there are no Reynolds spoke in France for this wheel !
I also have a crak on the frame. Cannondale send a new back frame to my reseller but he doesn't want to assume by himself the replacement.
From his point of view he already spent to much free time on the bike.
I train hard during winter to be ready for 2 events :
- Calvi xtri (6 May)
- Xterra France (7 July)
I've invested a lot of money in a bike and is seems now to be sure that I won't have any bike ready for Calvi ...
I'm now in a situation where Cannondal commercial doesn't respond to my reseller and where I have no bike ...
This can't continue anylonger, I have no other solution than transfer all this stuff to my lawyer next week.
Maybe I should have bought a Ultimate with better components ...
Sorry for my approximative english

Comments about cannondale SCALPEL 29ER CARBON 1:
This bike helps me climb hills with ease. I am no expert rider, but wanted to purchase a mtb that was durable and could withstand the occasional crash. This bike is extremely light weight and the lefty fork always makes for an excellent conversation piece while taking a break on the trail. If you have the ability to purchase this bike, DO IT! You will not regret this purchase.

Comments about cannondale SCALPEL 29ER CARBON 1:
This bike gives a serious advantage over competitors. It climbs like no other and descends well once you get your fit dialed in and get used to the super quick handling. It's crazy lightweight. Only negative I have experienced is the rear wheels spoke nipples working loose. Checking spoke tension occasionaly takes care of that and the wheels do have a free warranty but I haven't had enough issue to use it. Brought tension up a little on the rear wheel and they have been good since. Only other thing that could be better is maybe the brakes though they are powerful enough. Overall the bike is ridiculously good.

Comments about cannondale SCALPEL 29ER CARBON 1:
I have been super impressed with this bike. I came from a 26inch Scalpel and I can't believe this bike actually weighs 22.8 lbs in a Large frame right out of the box. The Reynolds Carbon wheels with the color scheme look amazing. This bike is equipped with the new Lefty and it is flawless. I'm still so disappointed whenever I test a bike with the Sid. There are people who actually race on horrible forks every day. Nothing is as smooth and controls downhill braking chatter with as much precision and control as the Lefty. The new XO gruppo shifts with absolute precision.
The Short rear chainstay makes downhill tight cornering a dream. I can't believe how short it feels when you need to pivot.
The Lockout for front and rear suspension are well placed and intuitive like the shifters.
This bike makes Epic Rides a dream. A must for those 50k and 100k events. Never have I stepped off a bike and felt less abused after beating through rocky sections for 2-3 hours.
I would choose this bike over SWorks Epic, Scott Spark, etc.
Buy it, Ride it, Love it!!
