Feels a little firm at casual pace, but when you bring it up to speed,....and you will....., it is amazing....acceleration, climbing, cornering traction on twisty singletrack....WOW!!!!!.....NOTE :Give yourself time to get the suspension and tire pressures dialed in and then you'll see what this bike is able to do. It IS amazing....I'm 175lbs Lefty at 110 psi, rear shock at 140 psi. tires frt @ 20 psi rear @ 25 psi. I usually get a different bike every year or so, but this one is going to be a keeper. Thanks, Cannondale !!

Comments about cannondale SCALPEL 29ER CARBON 2:
Great deal on a 2012 caused me to buy up into this category. Blew every bike away that I demo'd. Specialized, niner, Santa Cruz. First rotation of the cranks sold me. I've been a specialized rider since 1994 (S works FSR, stumpy FSR XC) , but not a second thought about the jump to cannondale. I'll be the guy in spec. red & black gear passing you on the green & white cannondale. Lefty is amazing.

Comments about cannondale SCALPEL 29ER CARBON 2:
I ride about 60-100 miles a week and have several bikes, the Carbon Scalpel is an amazing bike to climb with and handles extremely well down hill given the 29er wheel set!
The only negatives I have are the horrible Avid Elixirs, after coming off of a full XTR Jekyll 3000 that has run flawlessly for 7 years it makes me wonder what Cannondale was thinking by putting those crapy brakes on such a beautiful bike. They squeak, they moan, the stopping power is inconstant, 600.00 later ill be riding XTR brakes again!!!! anyone want a GREAT DEAL on some Avid's .???

The fastest bike I've ever ridden. This bike actually made me like 29ers... super quick and fun handeling. Low and short unlike 29ers usually are.

Comments about cannondale SCALPEL 29ER CARBON 2:
I'm very disapointed I purchased this bike as I live on the east coast (very close to the Cannondale hdqtrs) and find its just not the right bike for this area..There is a lot of technical, big hit roots and rocks on the trails around here and the Scalpel is just not built for them..Granted, it's fast, turns well, and is light but it lacks the ability to handle the terrain and can be very unforgiving if you push the pace especially since Cannondale spec's the Scalpel with Racing Ralphs, a useless tire on anything but the driest of conditions..The Monarch rear shock is awful on this bike..I've tried several settings and it just feels lifeless and still. It's a race bike that belongs more on western style courses and trails..where I'm sure it would shine..If you want something in between and more suited towards east coast riding, get a Trigger or a Jekkyl..I wish I had.
