SAVE PLUS Rear Stay Micro-Suspension System
A directional carbon lay-up and exaggerated vibration-absorbing tube shapes give the SAVE PLUS chain stay/seat stay system 13% more vertical deflection than the previous version, while actually improving the frames lateral and torsional stiffness.
SAVE PLUS Full Carbon Fork
Offset dropouts allow the fork blades to have the vertical compliance of a shallow rake fork, without sacrificing the Synapses nimble, precise handling. Refined carbon lay-up and SAVE shaping further enhance the forks vertical compliance.
Performance Geometry
Compared with our Elite race geometry, the Synapse features a 2-2.5 cm taller head tube, slightly relaxed head angle and longer wheelbase for a more upright riding position and a stable yet lively feel. It's confidence-inspiring, relaxing and it avoids the sluggish feel and awkward handling of many road bikes.

Comments about cannondale SYNAPSE CARBON 5 105:
Enjoy the ride of this bike on long rides on weekends and commuting to work. Looks great. Ride is smooth. Shifting is smooth. Right gear ratio is always available: whether pedaling to go top speed down hills or staying in the seat on hard climbs. This is a great bike.

Comments about cannondale SYNAPSE CARBON 5 105:
My first Cannondale was a Supersix so maybe i am biased. Because of an accident i needed to switch my riding style. The supersix was fast! setup right that bike would just keep on going only your back might not let you go as long as you wanted.
Welcome life on the Synapse. I feel as though I can go for hours and do. Very comfortable bike because of the position but also because of the frame. I feel very little of the road I am riding on. Very little vibration coming through the frame. From the second you push off and get out of the saddle the Synapse reacts - fast. There is no feeling that you are on a plush bike. I do feel that the bike could be more compliant. There are times when i get out of the saddle and I dont feel the stiffness i felt in the Supersix. That being said i am not riding a supersix.
The value of a Cannondale is right on par with other bikes in its class if not better (ie. Treks Domane and Specialized Roubaix). I did make a couple of upgrades that i planned on making on my supersix - FSA SLK crank, Mavic Ksyrium Elite wheels.
All in all I am impressed with the bike and look forward to my first fondo on May 19th.

Comments about cannondale SYNAPSE CARBON 5 105:
I bought a Synapse Carbon 105 in November 2011 to take part in the Deloitte Ride Across Britain in September 2012. In 2,500 miles the total list of work needed has cost about £100 demonstrating the bike's reliability:
1. Taking the seat post out to re-apply the liquid sandpaper stuff when it got a bit squeeky
2. New tyres - I got some armoured ones as the ones it came with were puncturing once a week (roughly every 100 miles).
3. New brake pads after 1,500 miles
4. New chain after 1,000 miles
5. Service after 1,500 miles
I'm now due for the next service/chain and will probably need to replace the rear cassette (which is normal for the mileage).
The RAB was a 1,000 mile nine day endurance event. The bike was, simply, brilliant. Extremely good at absorbing the road shocks, felt solid and responsive and, most importantly, I didn't have a single mechanical problem. I would recommend to anyone as a great entry-level carbon bike when you're starting to get a bit serious about lycra.
