              Comments about Bad Boy 5:

Was such a cool and functional looking bike I bought it. No regrets. My best bike ever. Shifting and steering are precise and I LOVE the hydraulic brakes. Will never get anything else now. I use the bike to train and get in shape. I live in a hilly area and it helps greatly with my running and hiking. The better shape I get in and the more I ride it the more fun I am having with it. It is very responsive and the wide range of gears helps with the hills. I have nothing bad to say about it. The handlebar light is very cool and settings work extremely well getting noticed. I added another light to help illuminate the road. I've run the slicks through everything, wet and dry, and I love them, especially their looks. Would I recommend this bike? No, because I want to be the only one on the road with one. I haven't done any group rides yet but can't wait to show it off to other riders!

So close, yet so far from a good bike

                    Comments about Bad Boy 5:

This is my primary commuter bike (for now).

                    Pros -
-No doubt this bike is a head turner
-Responsive frame with modestly aggressive riding position
-Climbs well, and handles speed with good stability.
-As you would expect from a good hybrid, this bike is faster and more agile than a mountain bike, but handles a variety of surfaces including gravel trails, dirt and lumpy shoulders with ease.

                    Cons -
-The slicks are pretty much useless in most riding conditions...replaced with cross tyres which grip much better in loose gravel and dirt which constitute much of my ride.
-The lefty fork setup prevents attachment of a front fender. For some reason, this bike is much "wetter" in the rain than others I have had, and the lack of a fender is a real bummer. I think it will be possible to jury rig something, but Cannondale should make one...it should be relatively easy for them
-Rear derailleur needed a lot of fine adjustment to overcome tendancy to slip
-Integrated front headlight is a cool idea, but it points up and away from the trail, not down onto it. I still need to attach a functional aftermarket light to see the trail in the dark...developed by a design wonk, not a cyclist.
-Replaced the grips, since they were an ergonomic nightmare after an hour or so of riding.
-Lefty fork makes balance a little off...need to adjust your body position somewhat for hands-off riding.

                    Overall:
Cannondale certainly put more style than substance into this bike...more of a concept bike than a functional riding machine, with a lot of cool, but relatively useless features. If this had been designed with the input of real riders, not just design-school graduates, it could be a great bike...so close, but not quite there.
-If you want a real commuter...buy another bike.
-If you want to look really cool riding short trips around town on dry, well-maintained roads during daylight, go right ahead and buy this.

Me, I am hoping this bike gets stolen so I can use the insurance money to get a real bike.

                          A true Hybrid...

The bike is slightly less aggressive than a road bike with the stability and handling of a mountain bike. As a whole, the bike is sturdy, well-built and relatively light. The steering responsiveness is sensitive. The gears are smooth and the hand placement is excellent. The brakes are sensitive and firm. Transitioning from 10mph to 25 is quick, comfortable and almost too easy; stopping is even quicker. After 1 years of searching, I can honestly say I found a true hybrid. This is a great bike.

I needed a bike as strong durable reliable quik fast and faster than I am! I had some doubts about the bad boy, no more! This bike rocks! Fast whisper quiet with ecplosive speed when you want it, absolutely perfect for the way I like to navigate through the five Burroughs. Curbs, potholes, cabs, glass, gravel, rolls over and around all, effortlessly. But it proved its bad boy rating with me in the months following hurricane sandy. With no house and no car it was the bad boy that rose to the occasion, pummeling the streets that where ravaged by 5 feet of ocean water, my bike was a war horse on a mission, four months 30 miles a day with everything including kitchen sinks in the way. Still riding, and it looks like new, no joke. I always wanted a cannondale ever since I was a 10 year old kid I finally got one when I purchased my bad boy and it has far exceeded my expectations!

Pros: This is a great bike. It has an aggressive seating position that still provides clear vision. The bike is fast, responsive, strong, well-built and light. It rides much softer and more aggressive than hybrids that coined themselves as road bikes with straight bars; and much lighter and more responsive than hybrids patterned after road bikes.

Cons: The built in bar light does point slightly upward. This is great for being seen by persons in SUVs or trucks. However, it may bother some people. If so, you can flip the head stock over. It will make the bike slightly more aggressive though.
