        Great XC bike

Got this bike to replace my Hakkalugi and Mojo, both stolen at the same time. This bike does a good job of replacing them. With 'cross tires mounted and lefty locked out, it's a decent cyclocross steed. With 2.1's and the front fork in action, it's a great mountain bike. I even mount skinny tires and go on the road, and it's not bad that way, but you do end up close to the ground and are at risk for pedal strike.

So much for how versatile this bike is, when used as intended as an XC bike it rocks. It is so light, and the solid rear end hooks up so well, it climbs like a rocket. It is rigid enough to transfer your power and inputs solidly to the ground. That said, you would never call this a rigid frame. It has tons of flex that you will thank when you get into the bumpy stuff.

The only thing this bike does not do well is fly down super rocky steeps. That's just punishing. But duh, it's a hard tail. If you want 6" of travel, you got on the wrong bike. On smooth to lightly bumpy terrain this bike flies.

              A surprise to ride

Comments about cannondale F29 CARBON 2:

I have had a series of what would be considered cheap bikes for a number of years. I ride a minimum of 25km each way on my commute & am overwhelmingly surprised by the quality of ride I get out of the Flash carbon 2 29er. I should have jumped over to the 29er & the carbon years ago. The 29 inch wheels feel like another power source & the carbon frame has so much life & responsiveness it doesn't compare to the alloy & steel frames I've ridden. The geometry keeps me comfy & is surprisingly accurate, some adjustments need to be made coming from road bikes but minor & not any disadvantages. The larger wheels put the centre of gravity higher but I feel more liberated & in touch with the bike, & the different gears are easy to adjust to & I find them to be more intuitive meaning the off road gearing is adaptive to road or off road. The light weight integrated with the life of the frame equals more power on the road. Add the lefty fork that offers a front end stiffness that makes this bike steer like a scalpel in surgery & I have the best bike I have ridden yet.
