Vuelta a España Pro Bike Tour - Itinerary
Day 1

Following a transfer from Bilbao, the tour will begin in the charming town of Santillana del Mar in the Cantabria region, where we will be based for the following two nights. After welcoming you properly to Spain and fitting you on your Cannondale SuperSixes, we will take off on our first ride, a 40-kilometer loop ride designed to warm up our legs for the challenging week ahead. Expect stunning visuals as we wind our way along the coast, offering a glimpse of what is to come. This evening, enjoy a typical Cantabrian meal at your comfortable hotel, before resting up for tomorrow’s ride.

Day 2

After a traditional Spanish breakfast, we will begin our first major ride of the week, a 95-kilometer excursion into the infamous mountains of Green Spain, which offer stunning views at every turn, and challenging climbs that are sure to wake up our legs. Our day’s ride will take us from Santillana del Mar to the national park of Macizo de Peña Cabarga, the Vuelta’s stage finish today. We will arrive at the finish line prior to the peloton and have unrestricted VIP-access to the race village at the summit. Dinner will be on your own this evening, and your guides will be able to arrange meals for you at their favorite local eateries.

Day 3

Our third day of riding will take us first to the beautiful town of San Vicente de la Barquera to preview the start of the stage. We will depart prior to the peloton in order to give you the full race experience along the same coastal route as the Vuelta. Reaching Colunga, we will enjoy the passing rush of a peloton at top speed before transferring to our hotel outside Oviedo. Our hotel this evening has a full spa in case you need the lactic acid massaged from your legs.

Day 4

On our fourth day of cycling we will reach the premier climb of our tour, the Angliru. Added to the tour in 1999, this pass has been recognized as one of the most challenging climbs in the sport today. Our day’s ride will take us to the summit of the Angliru where we will watch the exciting stage finish of this astonishing climb. Following the race, we will transfer to our hotel in the beautiful town of Leon, where you will have the opportunity to rest and relax out of the saddle. Our guides will be happy to show you around the old city, which boasts some impressive frescoes and iconic Gothic architecture. Leon is also a stop on the famous pilgrimage route, the Camino de Santiago de Compostela, so you can expect to see a number of modest pilgrims contrasting with the Lycra-clad professional athletes milling about in this region.

Day 5

Today is the final day of the Vuelta, and we have arranged VIP-access for premium viewing at the finish line in Madrid. We will begin our day with an optional early-morning loop ride from Leon, and then transfer by van to the finish line in Madrid. After seeing the final sprint up close and personal, we will head to a local favorite in Madrid for an unforgettable final meal and flamenco show.

Day 6

After a week of incredible cycling and the unforgettable memories of the Vuelta a España, today it is time to say good-bye to Spain. After breakfast at our hotel, your guides will see you off from Madrid.
