Day 2 was all about teamwork at La Ruta.  Ben Sonntag, 2010 champion, suffered a crash early on in stage 1, leaving him in 10^th place at the end of the first day.  Teammate, Alex Grant had a rough day as well, but still managed a 5^th place finish.

This year’s 18^th running of the Race Across The Sky has become an important focus for the Cannondale Factory Racing Team, so much so that we’re sending a large contingent of racers and support staff to leave a lasting impression on the 2,000 racers and even larger numbers of friends and fans that line the legendary 103 mile high altitude course that climbs 14,000 feet. This year, Jeremiah Bishop (who finished 5^thlast year in his first attempt) will be supported by Leadville veterans Tinker Juarez, and Alex Grant along with none other than cyclocross legend Tim Johnson, who’s making his first attempt at the event. The strategy is simple, work as a team with well executed attacks to put the contenders on the ropes early.

In a time of one hour and thirty six minutes, Marco Aurelio Fontana rode to a start-to-finish victory on a wet course to take his third consecutive Italian XCO title in Pejo Therme this weekend. It was Fontana’s eighth Italian title, spread over different disciplines and categories.
