Peter Sagan knew that the Amstel Gold Race course suited him, and knew that he couldn't waste his good form from the cobbled classics. Evidence of this was shown on the Cauberg, the last côte of the Amstel Gold Race: with one burst, Sagan was launched towards the finish but with just meters to the line, Gasparotto and Venendert came around him. Sagan crossed third and took his place on the podium.

This year, 7th and 8th Overall.  Ever the professionals, the athletes congratulated this year's champions and celebrated their successful completion of the brutal event.
