Colorado Pro Bike Tour - Itinerary
Day 1

Welcome to Colorado!

Your guides will greet you at the astounding Little Nell in Aspen and it’s time to ride. After a light lunch and getting fit to our Cannondale SuperSix bikes, we’ll roll out on some reconnaissance of tomorrow’s race route. Climb up the 10 miles to Maroon Lake via Maroon Creek Road, the perfect climb for our first day in the mountains at a 3% average grade. Then we’ll visit the Cannondale Pro Cycling Team to see what goes into the final day of preparation before a big stage race. Tonight we’ll celebrate a great first ride and the coming race with an incredible meal at Pyramid Café.

Meals: Lunch / Dinner
Mileage: 37.5 miles / 60 km
Climbing: 2,604 feet / 794 meters
Destinations: Aspen, Maroon Lake

Day 2

Aspen to Ruedi Reservoir

We’ll ride today to Ruedi Reservoir via Basalt. From Basalt to the reservoir it’s a 14-mile false flat, perfect for stomping on those pedals and getting used to the thin mountain air. Race your friends back home to Aspen in time to catch the first stage of the USA Pro Cycling Challenge, which goes from Aspen to Snowmass and back, much like our ride yesterday. We’ll have the best seats to all the action as we enjoy a post-ride lunch in town and cheer on the Cannondale team. Dinner tonight will be back at the unparalleled Pyramid Café, with a perfect dish to prepare you for the next day’s ride.

Meals: Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner
Mileage: 67 miles / 108 km.
Climbing: 2,893 feet / 882 meters
Destinations: Basalt, Reudi Reservoir

Day 3

The Queen Stage

Independence Pass Today is our queen stage, showcasing the legendary Independence Pass. Its 16 miles at 4.7% will deliver us to the soaring heights of the 12,137- foot summit. From here watch the pros as they race to the summit and down the other side. And after they descend, choose to turn back to Aspen or follow the racers to the other foot of the mountain, the Twin Lakes, before tackling the other side (15 miles, 3.4%). Independence Pass is so incredible that it’s worth doing twice. Enjoy a well deserved victory meal tonight at the delectable Ajax Tavern.

Meals: Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner
Mileage: 39 miles / 63 km. (Longer option: 86 miles / 138 km.)
Climbing: 3,831 feet / 1,167 meters (Longer option: 7,265 feet / 2,214 meters)
