Faster Everywhere X Barcelona

As July rolls around once again, the unmistakable excitement in the air can mean only one thing: It’s Tour de France time. This year the pro peloton is heading to Barcelona to kick things off for a distinctly Spanish-flavored Grand Départ. And it's going to be an epic start to three weeks of racing.

But what better way to take in the sights and sounds of the biggest bike race of the year than a social coffee ride on two wheels? With two stages taking place in and around the Catalan capital, it's the perfect excuse to saddle up, do a bit of riding, a bit of spectating and a whole lot of local delicacy-tasting. And we’re here for it.

Slightly Less Faster Everywhere

The EF Pro Cycling boys will spend most of this year’s Tour riding the SuperSix EVO, a bike built and engineered to be Faster Everywhere. For the rest of us however, we get the perfect opportunity to take the Fast out of Faster Everywhere for a change and enjoy the action from the sidelines.

So, while the pros are in town for business, us amateurs can be here for more pleasure.

Luckily, there are plenty of opportunities to check things out in and around Barca for both Stage One AND Two. And hey, if that means stopping for a cortado and a pastry or two while you’re at it then you won’t find us judging.

Saturday July 4th is Team Time Trial day. This is the first time the Tour has started with a TTT since 1971 - incidentally, the same year that Cannondale was founded!

19.7kms later, things get a bit more technical before they finish as fast as they can after climbing up to Montjuïc where the Olympic Stadium from the ‘92 games is located. The EF Pro Cycling team train will be resplendent as always as they pilot their Cannondale SuperSlice TT bikes as high up the leaderboard as their legs can take them.

Sunday meanwhile sees the peloton starting in Tarragona a little further down the coast for a 168.5km route back to Barcelona and a final stage-deciding two laps up to Montjuïc once again. It’s going to be fast and frantic and a great opportunity for a breakaway attempt. And also a great opportunity to catch the action more than once as the final laps unfold.

So, plenty of chances to check out the pros doing their thing IRL in what promises to be an epic opening weekend. Whether you’ll be racing across town to catch the action from multiple viewpoints, or you’re secretly more about tortilla than catching the Tour itself, we hope you have a muy bueno time!
